German Shepherd

General Characteristics:

Confident, loyal, and courageous are just a few words that can be used for the dog that is part of canine royalty! Their ability to learn commands, and their willingness to put their life on the line in defense of loved ones, makes them excellent pets. Because they are large and powerful and have strong guarding instincts, they should be socialized from a young age and also be obedience trained. Ample exercise is needed daily for this extremely active dog. The dog sheds heavily about twice yearly, and the rest of the time sheds a lesser amount continually.
