Labradoodle

General Characteristics:

The Labradoodle results from Poodle to Labrador Retriever breedings. Some are more like Poodles: smart, reserved, and quiet with a fine, high-maintenance coat that needs to be trimmed regularly. Others are more like Labs: rowdy, slow to mature, and prone to shedding often. Generally, Labradoodles are playful and very loving with children, but they can be overly exuberant and may knock down younger children unintentionally. They make excellent pets for a first-time dog owner. The Labradoodle can be a high- energy dog. They require about 30 to 60 minutes of exercise per day. The Labradoodle has three different coat types; depending on which coat yours has, you can expect them to be a non-shedder to average shedder.

Genetic Predisposition:

A genetic predisposition means that an individual may have a tendency to develop certain diseases as a consequence of inherited defects in the genes. Although some disorders occur because of spontaneous mutation of genes, many genetic disorders are inherited. These conditions are seen quite often in canines, mostly but not exclusively, in purebreds. Having said that, this breed has an increased risk for the following conditions which may or may not manifest:

Ear Infection Joint Problems Epilepsy Hypothyroidism Diabetes
