Bichon Frise

General Characteristics:

The playful bichon frisé is considered an all-around pet that gets along with other pets and children. Although small, bichons are active dogs, and are suitable for apartment living. Their coats require lots of care. Grooming is regularly required. Bichons are one of the few breeds recommended for people with allergies who want a dog. However, we recommend that you consult with your doctor and spend considerable time around adult bichons before deciding to live with one.

Genetic Predisposition:

A genetic predisposition means that an individual may have a tendency to develop certain diseases as a consequence of inherited defects in the genes. Although some disorders occur because of spontaneous mutation of genes, many genetic disorders are inherited. These conditions are seen quite often in canines, mostly but not exclusively, in purebreds. Having said that, this breed has an increased risk for the following conditions which may or may not manifest:
