Kennel Cough

Symptoms:

  • A strong cough, often with a “honking” sound
  • A runny nose
  • Sneezing
  • Lethargy
  • Loss of appetite
  • Low fever
  • Common Causes: 

    -Kennel Cough is infectious. Dogs "catch" kennel cough when they inhale bacteria or virus particles into their respiratory tract.
    -This could be caused by exposure to crowded and / or poorly ventilated conditions, such as are found in many kennels and shelters
    -Cold temperatures
    -Exposure to dust or cigarette smoke
    -Travel-induced stress

    Preventative Measures:

    You can feed your dog raw honey 3 - 4 times a day as it is a great natural treatment that helps soothe the throat.
    It is important to strengthen your dog’s immune system when cough occurs.
    Superfoods and oil supplements can greatly help in combating cough as well as providing long term benefits.
